... Read moreIn "Leave the World Behind," Rumaan Alam navigates the complexities of human relationships amid societal upheaval. The novel explores themes of trust, isolation, and modern anxieties, set against a backdrop of an unexpected crisis. Many readers found the tension gripping, sparking discussions on how well the narrative portrays the fear of the unknown versus the familiarity of stressful familial dynamics. Throughout the story, Alam’s writing evokes strong emotions, driven by relatable characters and a haunting atmosphere that makes readers question their assumptions about safety and connection. Reviewers have noted the book's ability to keep them engaged, despite some feeling that the tension ultimately did not yield a satisfying payoff.
