Homemade dog treats
I post a lot of meals for humans, but today, I wanted to do something a little different. My dog Ringo is a picky eater when it comes to treats, and they can get expensive fast. Since he is rather picky, I did start with a really small batch of treats for him. I'm calling these peanut butter cookie dog bones. He definitely gave them a 5 ⭐️ rating. This made 7 bones and 2 "cookies," so you can double or even triple this recipe to get more out of it.
You'll need:
● 1/2 cup peanut butter ⚠️ Make sure to get peanut butter free of artificial sweeteners and xylitol. It is extremely toxic to dogs⚠️
● 1 large egg
● 1 1/4 cup of flour, it is best to use whole wheat
● 6 tbsp beef broth
1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2.) In a large mixing bowl, add in the peanut butter and eggs. Beat with hand mixer until combined.
3.) Add in the whole wheat flour and water and beat until the dough forms a ball.
4.) Dust your work surface with whole wheat flour. Roll the dough out to a ¼-inch thickness. Cut out with the cookie cutter and place an inch apart on the prepared cookie sheet. They won't spread.
5.) Press holes into the cookie using a fork or a skewer.
6.) Bake for 18 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. This will depend on the size of your cookie cutter.
7.) Store in an airtight container. The cookies freeze well after being baked and will last up to 3 months in the freezer.
