3 steps I took to become a successful freelancer ✨

It took me 4 years to FINALLY make 6-figures as a freelancer- here’s how I got to this point!

👉First off, I learned skills that are in high demand. I studied marketing in college so luckily I already knew a lot about marketing strategy. University didn’t teach me nearly anything about social media though (crazy right?!) But I knew social media was growing so I taught myself everything I could about the industry- from content creation, video editing, graphic design, and platform best practices.

👉Next up, I built an impressive portfolio! I personally built mine on a professional website with Squarespace. (I bought a cute Marketing Agency Template on Etsy- 10/10 recommend!) You don’t need a website to be a successful freelancer (I didn’t have one for over 2 years), but I personally believe it makes a difference for getting hired. (I’ve gotten multiple compliments from clients about my website- so this is why I know it’s worth it).

👉Lastly, I’ve never stopped learning! I’m constantly working on my skills so I can offer more to clients and have more money-making opportunities! I also work on my mindset and learn new business approaches by reading businessy and self-help books!

My 'pro. website' became more than just a place to display work; it's my 24/7 marketing assistant. Beyond just listing services, I focused on crafting compelling 'case studies' that showcased the results I achieved for clients, not just the tasks I completed. Did I help a brand increase engagement by 30% through a new 'social media' strategy? That's a 'case study'! Did my 'content creation' lead to a significant boost in traffic? Highlight it! Even on platforms like 'Upwork profile,' I made sure my description and work examples clearly reflected my brand's unique strengths. A well-crafted portfolio markets your value for you, proving your capabilities and making it easier for clients to say yes.
