What my husband doesn’t know,
is how my heart still jumps a little
when I hear his keys hit the door.
How the sound of his laugh
still feels like home.
How I see the weight he carries
and wish he’d let me shoulder some of it.
How his quiet presence calms the loudest parts of me,
without even trying.
He’ll never fully know how proud I am of him.
Not just for what he does,
but for who he is.
The man. The partner. The father.
And no matter how many years pass,
how much we grow,
how life changes us both..
I’d still choose him.
