Because that is exactly what I did. I accepted it completely.
Not in a dramatic way. Just in the quiet everyday way where something becomes your baseline and you stop questioning whether it has to be that way.
Already tired before my feet hit the floor. Already running on something that was not quite energy. Already thinking about how I was going to get through the day before the day had even started.
I told myself it was just my schedule. Just having a full life. Just what being a busy woman felt like.
What I did not know was that waking up exhausted like that is a cortisol awakening response that is not functioning properly. Your cortisol is supposed to rise gently in the morning to give you natural energy and alertness. When it has been dysregulated for long enough that process stops working the way it should.
It was not my schedule. It was my stress hormone running a program that had nothing to do with how much sleep I was getting.
Follow me, I am sharing what finally changed this for me and what I do differently now 🌸
If you've ever felt exhausted the moment you wake up, you're not alone. Many people chalk it up to a hectic lifestyle or not getting enough sleep, but sometimes the true culprit is deeper—it's your body's cortisol awakening response that's thrown off balance. In my own experience, recognizing that my morning fatigue was due to hormonal dysregulation was eye-opening. Cortisol, known as the stress hormone, should naturally increase upon waking to boost alertness and provide energy for the day ahead. When this process malfunctions, you can wake up already drained despite hours of sleep. What helped me was focusing on lifestyle changes that support healthy cortisol rhythms. This included establishing a consistent sleep schedule, incorporating morning sunlight exposure, engaging in gentle morning movements like stretching or yoga, and practicing mindfulness or meditation to reduce chronic stress. Nutrition also played a role; avoiding caffeine late in the day and eating a balanced breakfast that stabilizes blood sugar made a difference. Most importantly, I learned to listen to my body rather than dismissing the tiredness as just part of being busy. Tracking how I felt throughout the day and making adjustments to my routine gradually helped regulate my cortisol and restore natural energy levels. If waking up exhausted sounds familiar, it’s worth exploring whether stress hormone imbalance might be at play. Small, consistent lifestyle shifts can make a significant difference in how you feel each morning and overall wellbeing.
