I want to give you the real version of this because I think the highlight reel version does not actually help anyone figure out whether this is realistic for their specific life.
It is a Wednesday. I am clocked into my full time graphic design job by 8am working from home. I have an hour for lunch. I clock out at 5pm. I have two teenage daughters and a real evening ahead of me.
Here is where the business actually happened today.
Before I clocked in I responded to two DMs that came in overnight. Maybe ten minutes.
During my lunch hour I ate, posted something I had drafted yesterday, and responded to a few comments. Forty minutes of actual building time inside a lunch break I was already having.
After 5pm I spent about twenty minutes checking notifications and drafting something for tomorrow while I was winding down.
That is a Wednesday. Not glamorous. Not a hustle highlight. Just a real woman with a full life using the time she already had in a way that is building something real.
It does not have to be all or nothing to be worth doing. That was the thing I spent too long believing before I finally stopped waiting for a version of this that fit perfectly and just started with the version that fit mostly.
DM me TEAM and I will show you what this could actually look like for your life 🙌
Balancing a side income with a full-time job and family responsibilities can feel overwhelming, but it’s possible with intentional planning and realistic expectations. From personal experience, the key is recognizing that progress doesn’t require huge daily time commitments. Instead, using small pockets of time—like before work, lunch breaks, or in the evening—can cumulatively build momentum. For instance, responding to messages, posting pre-prepared content, and engaging with your audience in short, consistent sessions can keep your side business active without causing burnout. It’s also important to accept that growth won’t always be glamorous or fast-paced. Many times, it resembles a steady, slow build, integrated into everyday life rather than an all-consuming project. Being kind to yourself and tracking small wins helps maintain motivation. Setting clear boundaries between your full-time job, side income tasks, and family time is essential. Using time management tools or simple scheduling techniques ensures you give attention to what matters most without sacrificing productivity. Lastly, finding a supportive community or mentor to offer guidance tailored to your unique situation can accelerate learning and provide encouragement. Whether through social media groups or coaching, having someone to share real-life side income strategies makes a big difference. This approach is not about hustling nonstop but about working smarter within your existing lifestyle, making a side income manageable and sustainable.
