I want to talk about this because I think summer is one of the times people talk themselves out of starting something and I actually think that is backwards.

Yes the schedule is different in summer. My daughters are around more. The rhythm of the week feels less predictable. The margin I have looks different than it does during a normal structured week.

But here is what I have found.

If you can build something consistently when your schedule is less structured, when the interruptions are less predictable, when the routine you are relying on is more fluid, you can build it any time.

Summer teaches you to be flexible with your building. To use whatever pocket shows up rather than waiting for the perfect pocket. To show up for something even when the conditions are not ideal.

And the women who start in summer go into fall with months of momentum already built. While everyone else is waiting for September to feel like the right time they are already three months in.

I adjusted what my building looks like right now to fit the season. Shorter more flexible sessions. More spontaneous content. Leaning into what summer actually looks like in my life rather than pretending my routine has not shifted.

It is working. Differently than it does in winter but it is working.

DM me TEAM if you want to know what starting in summer could actually look like for you 🙌

... Read moreBuilding a side income during summer, especially when juggling a full-time job and family life, can feel daunting but it is entirely achievable with the right mindset and strategies. From personal experience, the key is embracing the fluidity of summer schedules rather than resisting them. Unlike the more predictable routines of other seasons, summer often brings unexpected interruptions and less structured days—children being home, social events, and spontaneous plans. One effective approach is to identify and seize small pockets of time whenever they appear. This might mean dedicating 10–15 minutes during early mornings, breaks, or quieter moments after children’s activities end. The idea is not to wait for large, uninterrupted blocks, which are rare in summer, but to be consistent in showing up for your side project in these smaller bursts. Adjusting your goals and methods to fit the season is also important. Instead of lengthy sessions or rigid schedules, shorter, flexible tasks like brainstorming content ideas, quick social media engagement, or outlining plans work well. This adaptability keeps progress moving forward without overwhelming your summer lifestyle. Moreover, starting in summer offers a unique advantage: by fall, you’ll have built several months of momentum while others may just be starting. This head start can lead to a stronger position if your side income involves content creation, freelancing, or online sales. Finally, it’s crucial to accept that your productivity rhythm may differ from winter or other structured times. Embracing flexibility, being kind to yourself, and celebrating small wins help maintain motivation. Summer is not a barrier but an opportunity to cultivate resilience and creativity in your side hustle journey.

The image features the title "HOW TO GET OUT OF A SLUMP" in red text. It shows a hand holding a smartphone with a blank screen and a bed with clothes on it, all against a light pink background with red accents.
This image defines a "slump" as having no motivation despite tasks, listing symptoms like excessive phone usage, inability to get out of bed, feeling groggy, and being unable to complete tasks. It asks "so.. how do we get out of it?" with a swipe prompt.
The image presents five tactics to overcome a slump: the 5-second rule, the 5-minutes rule, using past mistreatment as motivation, romanticizing small tasks, and watching motivational videos. It notes these are personal tips, not guaranteed fixes.
