I want to explain this because I think most people do not realize how much summer specifically works against scalp health and why what you use during this season matters more than usual.

Heat increases oil production on your scalp as your body tries to regulate its temperature. More oil means more buildup accumulates faster and more frequently which means your follicles are working in a more congested environment than they would be in cooler months.

Sweat adds another layer of residue on your scalp that most conventional products are not designed to address without stripping everything in the process.

UV exposure breaks down collagen in your scalp tissue the same way it does on your face, weakening the structural foundation your follicles grow from over time.

And then there are the schedule changes that throw off whatever routine you had working. The disruption in consistency that lets things that were under control start slipping.

Summer hits your scalp from every direction simultaneously. And most conventional products respond by layering more on top of an already stressed scalp rather than actually addressing the microbiome balance that determines how your scalp handles all of those stressors.

What I use is formulated to keep that microbiome balanced even when everything around it is working against it. Fermentation science that nourishes and supports the environment rather than disrupting it further.

Your hair needs different protection in summer. And your scalp is where that protection has to start.

Comment HAIR and I'll share my full summer scalp routine and everything I use 🌸

6/22 Edited to

... Read moreFrom my experience, the summer season truly demands a tailored approach to scalp care that most people often overlook. The combination of heat, sweat, and sun exposure creates a perfect storm that accelerates oil buildup and leads to clogged follicles, which can result in scalp irritation or even hair thinning if not addressed properly. What helped me tremendously was incorporating products formulated with fermentation science. These products nourish the scalp’s microbiome rather than stripping it of its natural oils, which is a common issue with many conventional summer scalp treatments. I noticed that supporting the microbiome helped regulate oil production without causing dryness or irritation, something that typical scalp cleansers often failed to do. I also made it a point to gently cleanse my scalp more frequently during the summer, but without harsh shampoos that disrupt the delicate balance. Alongside this, protecting the scalp from UV damage became crucial. Hats and UV-protecting sprays can prevent collagen breakdown in the scalp tissue, maintaining a healthy environment where hair follicles thrive. Lastly, I found maintaining a consistent routine even when my schedule changed was key. Summer activities often throw off our usual habits, but sticking to a gentle cleansing and nourishing process helped keep scalp health in check. If you want your hair to truly benefit this summer, start with scalp care that respects and supports your skin’s microbiome, addresses additional oil and sweat, and protects against sun damage. This foundation improves how your hair grows and looks long after summer fades.

Read This Before You Explain Yourself Again
Stop explaining yourself to people committed to misunderstanding you. At some point, you have to realize… it’s not a communication issue. It’s a commitment to confusion. Some people don’t want clarity— they want access, control, or the ability to keep you second-guessing yourself.
