... Read moreStarting my plant journey, I found it really helpful to compare Philodendron Pothos and Neon Pothos Lemon Lime side-by-side. One thing that stood out was the difference in leaf shapes; the Philodendron has the classic heart-shaped leaves with a pointed tip, while the Neon Pothos Lemon Lime shows more oval and elongated leaves. This visual cue made identification much easier for me.
Texture-wise, Philodendron leaves are softer and thin, whereas Neon Pothos leaves feel thick and waxy with a slight sheen. When I ran my fingers over my plants for the first time, these textural differences helped me appreciate their unique qualities.
Growth habits also vary—Philodendrons tend to start with upright vines that trail later, while Neon Pothos Lemon Lime vines trail immediately and have more compact, chunkier vines. Noticing this difference helped me understand how to position my plants within my home to support their natural growth.
Stem and root characteristics are a bit more subtle but still noticeable. The Philodendron’s thin, smooth stems have no sheath at the nodes, and the aerial roots are smaller and more delicate. Meanwhile, the Neon Pothos has thick stems with cataphyll sheaths at the nodes and more pronounced aerial roots. These details made me more confident in caring for each plant based on their structural needs.
From a care perspective, both plants prefer bright indirect light and are generally easy to maintain. Keeping these differences in mind has improved my success with these plants and deepened my appreciation for their distinct beauty.
