## The Crown's Turning (A Litha Song)
The Wheel has spun to Solstice height,
The sun, a king in blazing gold,
Pours forth his most resplendent light,
A story Wiccan hearts unfold.
For in this time of longest day,
When meadows hum and forests gleam,
Two ancient powers meet to play
A battle born of nature's dream.
**The Oak King stands, his antlers high,**
Cloaked green in Summer's vibrant might,
His reign beneath the sapphire sky
Has banished Winter's chilling night.
He *is* the sun at zenith's hold,
The ripening grain, the fruitful bough,
His warmth a story bravely told,
Upon his strong and sun-browned brow.
**The Holly King**, in shadows deep
(Though dressed in leaves of darkest sheen),
Awakes from where the cold did sleep,
A presence potent, sharp, and keen.
He bears the promise of the Yule,
The seed within the swelling earth,
The wisdom that the dark will rule,
And bring the year to silent birth.
They meet where sunlight kisses shade,
Not foes of hate, but brothers bound,
By cosmic law their roles are made,
Upon this consecrated ground.
With clash of branch and spirit's fire,
A dance of destiny takes flight,
The Oak fulfills his heart's desire,
To blaze with pure, unyielding light...
**...And yields.** For at the very peak,
Where strength seems absolute and vast,
The turning point is what they seek.
The Oak King's glorious reign is passed.
The Holly King accepts the crown,
A bittersweet and solemn gain.
Though daylight *now* begins its slow descent to ground,
The Oak King's sacrifice is not in vain.
**For deep within the Mother's breast,**
The Goddess bright with summer's grace,
Feels the slow turn toward harvest's rest,
And sees the Holly King's stern face.
She knows the Sun Lord, though he wanes,
Goes not to death, but deep repose,
To gather strength on hidden plains
As Autumn's golden current flows.
So Litha's fire leaps ever high,
We dance upon the sun-drenched hill,
To hail the sun king in the sky,
His sacrifice, the Cosmic Will.
We toast the Oak in mead and song,
His life-force burning in the grain,
And bless the Holly King, so strong,
Who ushers in the gentle rain.
For in the turning of the crown,
The secret of the Wheel is found:
**All life must ebb, then flow again,**
**In sacred, everlasting round.**
Rejoice! The sun is at its height!
Embrace the fire, the love, the light!
