MY FAV STUDY TECHNIQUES FOR A 4.0 GPA | ✨📚📝

As somebody who easily gets bored while studying content, I tend to use a lot of study techniques to help keep my mind interested while not losing focus. These are all techniques that I have used for the last couple of years and have helped me maintain A’s in all my classes. If you feel like the traditional way of studying might not be for you, you should definitely try out some of these techniques! 👇

🤎Leitner System: Start out with a deck of flashcards. Every card starts in Box 1. If you get a card right, move it to the next box. If you get a card wrong, move it down a box or keep it in Box 1 (if it’s already there). This will help gamify your review and also show you your weak spots.

🤎PQ4R Method: This is an acronym for Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, recite, and Review. This is one of the best study methods out there as it has a lot of active learning. Preview the concepts that you are going to learn, formulate questions like what you may know about the concept and what you don't know, read one section at a time while trying to answer your questions, reflect if your questions were all answered, and that you are satisfied with their answers, recite a summary of what you just learned by saying it out loud or writing it down, and review the material one more time.

🤎Feynman Technique: explain the concept to yourself like you are explaining it to a five-year-old. When you explain something to yourself in your own words, you understand it a lot better.

🤎Mind Mapping: connect the ideas you know with visual diagrams and add on to them with the more you learn. This is really helpful for visual learners and can help you understand how different concepts are related to each other.

The Leitner System enhances memory retention through spaced repetition and active recall by using flashcards sorted into different boxes based on mastery. This method gamifies studying and highlights weaker areas for focused review. The PQ4R Method is an advanced active learning technique that encourages deeper engagement with material by systematically Previewing the topic, formulating Questions, Reading carefully, Reflecting on understanding, Reciting key points, and Reviewing the content. This technique improves comprehension and long-term retention. Explaining concepts using the Feynman Technique further strengthens understanding by simplifying ideas as if teaching a child. This process reveals gaps in knowledge and reinforces learning by encouraging you to use your own words. Mind Mapping facilitates visual learners by creating diagrams that connect related ideas, revealing relationships between topics and fostering integrative thinking. This spatial organization helps in memorization and conceptual clarity. Combining these methods can address different learning preferences and keep study sessions engaging, reducing boredom and increasing motivation. For students aiming for excellence, adopting diverse scientifically-backed techniques like these can transform study habits and yield excellent academic results. Additionally, these methods not only prepare students for exams but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for lifelong learning.
