Budget Friendly Alternative for a $280 Jacket!!

I am comparing the original Belle Anne Polka Dot jacket to its Cider Dupe.

The cider jacket is $55 compared to the original jacket being $280. The budget friendly alternative is great for those who need to save a little bit of money, but want the same look. It’s also good if you’re not trying to invest in this piece, but want to partake in the trend.

Let’s talk about the similarities. They both have the cute polka dot design that has been very popular!! Both feature a high neck as well as a big puff sleeve. The dupe does only feature a zipper versus the original having a little bit of a fold over the zipper.

Obviously, a big difference in cost is going to be material. You will be compromising the 100% cotton that the Belle Anne piece has. The Cider Dupe is made of 56% Viscose 41% Polyester 3% Linen for the shell and the lining is 100% Polyester.

Full transparency, I was gifted the cider dupe. And I am conflicted on whether I support it. It obviously is a knock off of this designer’s piece and to me it’s a bit of a moral conflict. I also do believe in investing in better material for your clothes so they will last and be good on your skin. This is a little bit of controversial topic so I’m curious what you think? #lemon8creator #lemon8partner

... Read moreAfter trying on both the original Belle Anne and the Cider Linen Blend Polka Dot High Neck Zip Through Jacket, I've had a lot of time to think beyond just the price tag. While the $55 dupe definitely captures the trendy look of the $280 Globo Jacket White Polka Dot with its adorable puff sleeves and high neck, the material difference is where it really hits home for me. The original's 100% cotton feel is just so breathable and soft against the skin, which is something you truly appreciate when wearing a jacket for more than just a quick photo op. Cotton also tends to wear beautifully over time if cared for properly, often becoming softer with each wash. On the other hand, a blend like viscose, polyester, and linen, while offering some benefits like wrinkle resistance and a lighter feel, can sometimes feel less luxurious or breathable, especially in warmer weather. I've found that synthetic blends can sometimes lead to more pilling over time, which affects the jacket's longevity and overall appearance. When you're looking at a piece like this, intended as a statement, you want it to look good for many seasons, right? This ties into the whole 'investing in better material' discussion – sometimes the initial cost difference translates into a much longer lifespan and better comfort. Beyond the fabric, let's talk about styling! This polka dot jacket, whether it’s the original or the dupe, is surprisingly versatile. I love pairing it casually with high-waisted jeans, a simple white tee, and some classic sneakers for a chic everyday look. The puff sleeves and high neck with its zipper detail add enough flair that you don't need much else. For a slightly dressier vibe, you could throw it over a neutral-colored slip dress or a black pleated midi skirt with some ankle boots. It instantly elevates an outfit without feeling overly formal. Don't be afraid to mix prints either – a subtle stripe underneath could be really fun! Or, if you're feeling bold, try it with a vibrant solid color pant or skirt to make the polka dots pop even more. And a quick note on care: since the Cider dupe is a blend, always check the label! Typically, these blends might require a gentle wash cycle (cold water is usually best) and air drying to maintain their shape and prevent shrinkage or damage to the fabric. For the original cotton version, a cold wash and tumble dry low would likely be fine, but again, always best to follow the specific care instructions on the garment. Taking proper care of your clothes, regardless of their price point, really helps them last longer and look their best. It's all part of being a conscious consumer, whether you're investing in a high-end piece or enjoying a budget-friendly find. It's about making choices that align with your values and wardrobe goals, ensuring you get the most out of every piece you own!
