So, which kind of writer are you?

I'm a plotter with a slight pantser flare. I'm currently at 60k on A Ward of the State (Book 3 of The Unborn Child Protection Act series) and I'm trying to backfill subplot.

Yup. I was so focused on the main sequence, I completely missed the fact that my main character, Allison, attends school. 😏

... Read moreWhen it comes to writing, understanding whether you lean more towards plotting or pantsing can greatly influence your creative process. Plotting involves outlining the entire story ahead of time, allowing for a clear roadmap as you write. Pantser writers, on the other hand, often let their creativity flow without strict guidelines, leading to unexpected plot twists and character development. Many authors find themselves somewhere in between, embracing elements from both styles to craft richer narratives. For those attending events like PARIS 2024, connecting with fellow writers and participating in workshops can provide a wealth of insights on this discussion. Engaging in discussions about various writing methodologies helps authors discover how different approaches can enhance their storytelling skills. Consider joining writing communities online or at conferences to share experiences, learn from peers, and grow as a writer in a supportive environment. As you reflect on your writing style, think about how you can experiment with both plotting and pantsing techniques in your current projects for an enriched creative experience.
