March her story: Women, Reading, and MS awareness

Title: Women Who Read. Women Who Rise. Women Who Advocate.

March reminds us that women have always been authors of change — through knowledge, courage, and care. During Women’s History Month, we celebrate the power of reading as resistance, healing, and leadership.

From the legacy of Dr. Elmina Roys Gavitt to Victoria Reese Brathwaite women have used words to transform communities and protect futures.

This month we raise awareness for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) — a condition that disproportionately impacts women. Education is power. Reading builds understanding. Awareness builds advocacy.

Let’s honor women’s history by learning more, reading more, and supporting those navigating MS with strength and grace.

Because informed women don’t just make history — they change it.

... Read moreReflecting on the vital role women have played as authors of change offers powerful insight into how knowledge and advocacy impact health and history. Throughout Women’s History Month, I found inspiration in learning about women like Dr. Elmina Roys Gavitt and Victoria Reese Brathwaite, whose words and leadership forged paths of transformation for communities and health awareness. Focusing on Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a disease that disproportionately affects women, I realized how critical education and reading are in advancing awareness and support. MS Awareness Month alongside Women’s History Month highlights the intersection where informed understanding turns into meaningful change. Many women living with MS demonstrate remarkable strength and grace, embodying resilience in the face of a challenging diagnosis. In my experience, reading stories and resources related to MS not only deepens empathy but empowers advocates to share knowledge with their communities. Whether through books, articles, or personal narratives, the act of reading unites us in a shared mission to support those navigating MS and to break down stigmas around chronic illness. Ultimately, honoring women’s history means continuing to learn, read, and advocate who are affected by MS and other health disparities. It reinforces that informed women don’t just make history — they change it, leading with courage, care, and a commitment to transformative knowledge.
