Applying the right scalp oil works wonders not only in moisturizing dry patches but also in balancing oil production. Oils such as tea tree, jojoba, and coconut have natural properties that soothe inflammation, fight buildup, and prevent dandruff. It's crucial to gently massage the oil into the scalp to stimulate blood flow and promote a healthier environment for hair growth. Consistency is key; I recommend oiling your scalp once or twice a week, depending on your hair type. For those with oily hair, lighter oils like jojoba are beneficial because they mimic natural scalp oils without leaving a heavy residue. Conversely, heavier oils can provide deep hydration for flaky scalps but should be used sparingly. If you skip scalp oiling for several wash days, the scalp can become imbalanced—leading to an increase in visible flakes and excessive oiliness as your skin reacts to dryness by overproducing sebum. Including scalp oiling in your routine helps maintain optimal scalp health, reducing irritation and supporting stronger, shinier hair.
