My Webtoons DNFs

1. I Dont Hate Us

2. The Distance Between Us

3. As If Love Doesn't Exist

4. Love, or Sex?

Most of these I haven't finished yet because the main characters are so irritating and make decisions that make me want to throw my phone 😅 doesn't mean I won't ever finish them, just that I have to pace myself.

"Everything is Fine" is actually really good, but it made me so uncomfortable that I just had to stop reading it for my own mental health, but for people who have a stronger stomach for realistic/relatable horror it is VERY good.

2025/1/8 Edited to

... Read moreWe all have that one list, right? The 'Webtoons I may never finish' pile that keeps growing, even though we initially loved the premise! It's totally normal to hit a point where a series just doesn't click anymore, or it rubs you the wrong way. I wanted to share some of my personal Webtoon DNFs and why I had to put them down, at least for now. Maybe you've felt the same way about these popular titles! For some of the romance-focused ones like 'I Don't Hate Us' or 'The Distance Between Us', I found myself constantly questioning the main characters' decisions. You know that feeling when you're reading and you just want to shake them? It gets to a point where the frustration outweighs the enjoyment, and I need a break. It's not that the stories are inherently bad; sometimes, it's just a matter of personal taste in character arcs or relationship dynamics. Similarly, 'As If Love Doesn't Exist' and 'Love, or Sex?' touched on themes that, while intriguing, sometimes presented character choices that made it hard for me to connect or empathize. Then there's a whole different category, like 'Everything is Fine.' This one was genuinely brilliant in its execution as a psychological horror, but it hit a little too close to home in terms of unease. As much as I appreciate well-crafted horror, sometimes for my own mental well-being, I have to step back. It made me incredibly uncomfortable, and honestly, that's a valid reason to pause or completely DNF a series. If you have a stronger stomach for realistic, unsettling narratives, I'd still recommend it, but be warned! Sometimes, a Webtoon lands on your 'did not finish' list for reasons beyond irritating characters or intense themes. Maybe the pacing completely shifts, or the plot starts to feel repetitive. I've heard others mention dropping series like 'Our Relationship Is...' or 'The Girl From Random Chatting!' because they felt the story dragged, or the character development wasn't going in a direction they hoped. Even 'old webtoons' can fall victim to this if their early tropes haven't aged well, or if newer series offer more compelling narratives. It’s perfectly okay to DNF a Webtoon! Our reading time is valuable, and if a story isn't bringing you joy or engagement, there are thousands of other amazing series waiting. Don't feel guilty about letting go of 'Mismatch Webtoon' or 'Him and Him and Him Webtoon' if they're not captivating you. I've learned to recognize when a series, even a highly recommended one like 'Close As Neighbors,' just isn't for me. Whether it's the art style, the plot, or simply not being in the mood for that particular genre, it's about making your reading experience enjoyable. What are some Webtoons you've started but couldn't quite bring yourself to finish, and why?

A book cover-style image for 'The Butterfly Garden' by Dot Hutchison, featuring a white butterfly on a dark, soil-like background. Overlaid text reads 'DNF Did Not Finish!' with a yellow 'X', and 'Emmmm...'. The image visually represents a book that was not completed.
DNF Did NotFinish!
I read over 100 pages but ultimately had to discontinue. The book failed to capture my interest and felt flat. I had anticipated more due to the positive reviews. Not everyone are going to like the same books 🤷‍♀️ #dnf #books #bookish #booktok #BookReview

My first book on my DNF list
I’d never believed I could put a book on a DNF list. I’m one of those people that could start watching a crappy movie, and I’ll watch it until the end just because I feel like I already invested time in starting it and now I gotta see it through. So naturally I would feel that way about books too.
