My first book on my DNF list

Putting a book on a DNF list felt like breaking an unspoken rule for me. I’m usually someone who pushes through movies or books, even if they aren’t great, just because I feel the need to see it through. This experience has changed how I approach reading. That’s an important detail: books often have specific readers in mind, and what doesn’t work for one may be perfect for another, especially in the 16 to 24 age bracket. Recognizing that helped me detach any guilt from not finishing it. A DNF list is a useful tool in my reading journey now. It helps me keep track of books that, for one reason or another, didn’t hold my attention or weren't quite my style. Having this list also encourages me to explore different genres and authors more confidently, without the pressure to finish everything I start.
