Title: DRA-Q

(apparently, the little bat on the cover is a dash)

Creator: Chiyo

📄 Plot: Just a normal vampire girl falling head over wings for the bad boy at school, but getting close to him means breaking every code of being a vampire amongst humans...also there's a centuries old werewolf rivalry that gets them into some trouble..

📖 Genre: dark comedy| romance |supernatural | fantasy

💭 My Thoughts: I will preface this manga with a blood/gore warning ⚠️ it's not bad enough to be a wrapped manga, but it is hilariously excessive.

That being said, it's got a similar vibe to Dandadan or Undead Unluck, where the characters don't take themselves super seriously but the overall message of "I like you for who you are, doesn't matter if you're different" still is has an impact.

So far, there are three volumes for this manga, the 3rd releasing in May.

⭐ Star Rating: 9/10

... Read moreAs a fellow manga enthusiast, I know the thrill of finding that next captivating read, whether you're searching for specific titles like What Do You Take Me For? or deep dives into genres like smut manga or *BL*. While DRA-Q by Chiyo might not fit every niche, it offers a refreshing blend of dark comedy and supernatural romance that I found incredibly engaging. If you’re like me and appreciate stories with unique character dynamics and a powerful message, this one is definitely worth a look. What truly sets DRA-Q apart is its ability to weave together humor, romance, and supernatural elements seamlessly. The plot centers around a vampire girl falling for a bad boy, navigating not just their forbidden attraction but also a centuries-old werewolf rivalry. It's a fantastic example of a story where the characters don't take themselves too seriously, but the core message of “I like you for who you are, doesn’t matter if you’re different” resonates deeply. This theme of acceptance, especially in unconventional relationships, might appeal to those who enjoy the emotional depth found in titles like *I May Be Big and Scary But I Want You To Accept Me The Way I Am BL*, even though DRA-Q itself is not a Boys' Love story. The manga dialogue in DRA-Q is another highlight. Chiyo masterfully uses conversations to build tension, inject humor, and reveal character. For instance, in one tense interaction I recall from the pages, you get sharp exchanges like “WHAT YOU LOOKIN’ AT, OLD MAN?” and “THIS AIN’T A PEEP SHOW.” These lines immediately tell you about the characters' personalities and the kind of direct, confrontational style this manga embraces. On the flip side, there are moments of genuine reassurance and acceptance, with dialogue like “YOU GOT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.” and “THAT’S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME!” These contrasting interactions add so much richness to the vampire girl's journey and her relationship with the bad boy, reminiscent of the complex emotional landscapes readers seek in titles like Loving Moon Dog Manga or *Tender Night Komik*. Visually, the manga is striking. The cover of DRA-Q Volume 1 featuring the red-haired female character with one eye glowing yellow, along with the distinctive bat symbol in the title, immediately grabs your attention. The art style effectively conveys the dark comedy elements, and the character expressions, like the reptilian eye with tears or the distressed male character discussing how “LOVE AIN’T ABOUT BLOOD,” truly pull you into their emotional struggles and triumphs. The blend of serious moments with the quirky, almost excessive gore makes for a really unique reading experience that stands out. So, if you're on the hunt for a supernatural romance with a strong dose of dark humor and a heartfelt message about acceptance, DRA-Q is a fantastic recommendation. It’s a manga that, while distinct from specific searches like delinquent omega belongs to the beast king manga or *marriage substitute komik*, still delivers on the promise of an exciting, emotionally resonant story that will keep you turning the pages.
