✈️Eva Air Biz Class SIN-TPE-NRT for 25K miles!

I needed to book a quick getaway ticket to Tokyo in Jan so I tried snooping around for tickets on the usual airlines (JAL/ANA/SQ). Unfortunately since this was quite last minute (in Oct’25), the revenue fares were very expensive ($1K^). So I turned to check if there were any seats for miles redemption on SQ which also yielded nada for J, and too expensive for Y!

I decided since I was flying alone, I could be flexible and I looked up the next alternative which my miles were able to get me— on Eva Air!

So for those of you who know, Eva Air is Taiwan’s national airline and of course for any flights it’ll require a stopover in Taiwan. They’re also part of Star Alliance which means youre able to book them via Krisflyer OR book SQ with their miles (Infinity mileage program). I looked up their website for availability on their own airline since I did not want to take the chance to waitlist for SQ flight and not clear them before my planned trip.

For SIN-TPE-NRT it cost 25,000 miles 1-way which is more than 50% lesser as compared to taking a direct flight from SIN-NRT at 54,000 miles (before SQ’s devaluation). Citibank miles can be transferred to Eva Air which was what I used!

✈️SIN-TPE on 777-300ER

• Old hard product

• Seats are slanted which was a bit weird?

✈️TPE-NRT on 787-10

• *NEW* hard product

• Seats are straight now BUT it’s quite squeeze at the leg area like you can lie down flat and straight, definitely cannot sleep on your sides with legs bent 😬

The whole process of transferring is quite tiresome. Took me some time to even call up the airline to confirm my booking because of how laggy the website is (lol). If anyone need a step-by-step guide please comment 👇🏻 and I’ll try my best to churn it out in a ELI5 method 😂

Anyway, so this is how I took my first Eva Air flight and in Business. Given the HUGE competition from everyone chasing miles now and redeeming SQ, I’m opening up my options to other airlines and NGL, Eva Air service was top notch, they were more warm as compared to what I’ve experienced on SQ 😂

... Read moreIf you’re looking to fly from Singapore (SIN) to Tokyo (NRT) without breaking the bank on last-minute tickets, Eva Air’s business class option with a Taiwan stopover could be a hidden gem. After realizing direct Singapore-Tokyo flights, especially on preferred carriers like JAL, ANA, or SQ, were expensive when booked near departure, I explored alternative routes using miles. Booking through Eva Air allowed me to fly SIN-TPE-NRT for just 25,000 miles one-way, a huge savings compared to 54,000 miles for direct flights on SQ before their devaluation. The route requires a stop in Taipei, but the break allowed me to sample Eva Air’s comfortable business class seats on two wide-body aircraft—the older 777-300ER and the newer 787-10. Transferring miles from Citibank to Eva Air’s Star Infinity program was straightforward but took patience, as their booking site can be laggy, and phone support is sometimes needed to confirm tickets. Eva Air is part of Star Alliance, so you can also redeem via Krisflyer miles, increasing your options. In terms of comfort, the SIN-TPE leg had older slanted seats, which felt a bit unconventional. The TPE-NRT leg featured the newer straight lie-flat seats, which provide a flat bed but can be slightly cramped in the leg area. Despite this, the service onboard was notably warm and attentive, which I appreciated more compared to my previous SQ business class experiences. For anyone considering this route to Tokyo, I’d suggest factoring in the Taiwan stopover as a chance to relax and possibly enjoy airport lounges like the T3 Silverkris Lounge. The meals onboard impressed me, featuring delicious seafood dishes and premium Japanese wagyu—perfect for making the journey feel more luxurious. If you want, I’m happy to share a step-by-step guide on transferring miles and booking this itinerary. Feel free to reach out, and I’ll break down the process in simple terms. This option is a fantastic way to maximize your miles, enjoy great service, and still get to Tokyo in style without paying direct flight premiums.
