If I knew this earlier, I would have never ruined my Monstera💔🌿

5/27 Edited to

... Read moreFrom my experience growing Monsteras, I’ve learned that these plants truly thrive when their unique needs are understood and respected. For instance, I used to immediately water my Monstera whenever I saw drooping leaves, assuming they were thirsty. But after reading about how wet soil can cause root rot, I started checking moisture levels more carefully. Using a moisture meter or feeling the soil with my fingers helped me avoid overwatering, which is a common mistake. Lighting also plays a bigger role than many think. My Monstera’s leaves used to remain small and lacked the beautiful splits, simply because it was placed in a low-light corner. Moving it closer to a window with bright, indirect sunlight made a world of difference—in a few weeks, new leaves grew larger with dramatic fenestrations. Another important change was updating the soil mix. Standard potting soil held too much moisture, causing drainage problems. Switching to a chunky mix with bark and perlite improved airflow around the roots and helped prevent rot. Finally, understanding the physical structure of the Monstera helped me support it properly. I learned that aerial roots grow from the plant’s back, so attaching a moss pole there supports its natural growth pattern without damaging the leaf stems. This attention to detail really helped my plant flourish and avoids accidental harm. Overall, these insights have transformed my Monstera care routine. Each plant is a bit different, so tools like plant care apps can also guide watering and lighting needs more precisely. By sharing these tips, I hope others avoid the common pitfalls that can lead to harming their beautiful Monsteras.
