Motherhood: My story
As Will Smith once said, "Now, this is a story all about how,
my life got flipped-turned upside down, and I'd like to take a minute, Just sit right there, I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air."
Except I didn't become a king, move to California, or a mansion.
On my morning of the older goddaughters 2nd birthday, I got a text from my boyfriend saying, "My son is home!" Custody and court had been rough, so this was the first chance he had to see him in over 3 months, and his son was only 11 months old. I told him to enjoy the day, maybe visit family, and I would see him tomorrow. He was insistent that I had to meet him that day along with seeing his family. After my goddaughters party, I went to meet G. It was nearing his nap time. His mom gave us advice that he may be more comfortable falling asleep with a girl around and that maybe I could help G fall asleep faster. It worked! Moments after this photo, G fell asleep holding my hand. I already knew I would love my boyfriend forever, but from that moment on, I knew I needed to protect this baby like he was my own.
Fast forward 6 years....
COVID lockdowns, more court, and more. We are still standing and stronger than ever.
I am a full-time mommy to my 7 year old, G. Who you have briefly seen photos of on my page. I try not to post his face his face in case his bio mother finds my page. She chose to leave him at 2, almost 3. Her story is not mine to tell, so I will leave it at that, but it is my opinion if she wants to know what he looks like, she should know him. He is doing fantastic without her and has little to no memory of her. We will tell G of her someday when the time is right. Until then, he knows me as his "mom," and this is my story so far♥️
Motherhood is a journey marked by profound love, unique challenges, and deep emotional connections. Navigating the challenges of motherhood can also include dealing with co-parenting and legal matters, which can leave mothers feeling overwhelmed. Many women grapple with the societal pressure to manage their children’s emotional well-being while handling their own. It’s essential to find support from communities, friends, and online resources. As I reflect on these experiences, I encourage other mothers to share their stories and embrace their journeys—no matter how unconventional. Each story contributes to a collective understanding of motherhood that is rich and diverse. Through this shared experience, we can build a supportive community that uplifts and empowers one another, providing valuable insights and encouragement for those embarking on or navigating their own motherhood journeys.
