HGWFM 1/144 Zoworts Heavy custom
Been awhile since I posted hahaha...Yeah sorry, I have other photos to post as well but here is recent stuff. I worked on a quick build of the Zoworts Heavy done in my Armored Core 6 AC colors. It has small mods and detail pieces. I'll post more soon.

There's truly nothing quite like taking a standard Gunpla kit and transforming it into something uniquely your own. For many of us in the #gunplacommunity, the joy of the hobby extends beyond just snapping kits together; it's about infusing them with personal flair, a custom paint job, or even minor modifications that elevate the model. This is exactly what I aimed for with my latest project, the HGWFM 1/144 Zoworts Heavy, drawing heavy inspiration from the gritty, customizable mechs of Armored Core 6. Video games, especially those with deep customization options like Armored Core, are fantastic wellsprings for model building inspiration. I wanted to capture that feeling of building a personalized combat unit, translating my in-game AC's colors and battle-hardened aesthetic onto a physical model. It's not just about replicating a design; it's about interpreting it, making choices about color saturation, weathering, and additional details that tell a story about the machine. For this Zoworts Heavy, I focused on a color palette that evoked a sense of ruggedness and power, typical of an Armored Core unit ready for deployment. If you're thinking about diving into custom builds, don't be intimidated! Even small changes can make a huge difference. Starting with simple panel lining to make details pop, or applying a matte top coat to give your kit a more realistic, less toy-like finish, are excellent first steps. For painting, you don't need an elaborate airbrush setup to start. Basic hand-painting with acrylics can achieve amazing results, especially for smaller details or weathering effects. The key is thin coats and patience. For this Zoworts, I used a combination of painting techniques to achieve the desired effect, focusing on smooth coverage for the main colors and then adding subtle panel washes to enhance the mechanical lines. When it comes to modifications, even tiny pla-plate additions or scribed lines can drastically alter a kit's silhouette or perceived weight. For my Zoworts Heavy, I added small detail pieces to enhance its 'heavy' designation, imagining where extra armor or sensor arrays might be. The tools you'll need are surprisingly minimal to start: a good pair of nippers, a hobby knife, various grits of sandpaper, and some basic paints and brushes. As you get more adventurous, you might add a pin vise for drilling holes or a set of scribing tools, but the essentials will get you far. Sharing your custom builds with the Gunpla community is also a rewarding part of the process. It's a place to get feedback, discover new techniques, and celebrate the creativity of fellow builders. Seeing how others approach their projects can spark new ideas for your next build. My HGWFM 1/144 Zoworts Heavy custom was a joy to work on, and the satisfaction of seeing my Armored Core 6 vision come to life in plastic form makes all the effort truly worthwhile. I encourage everyone to try adding their personal touch to their next Gunpla kit!
