Hey beauties! I know we've all been obsessed with the 'fox eye' and 'siren eye' trends taking over our feeds. They give such a chic, lifted, and often dramatic look that just snatches your face, right? But let's be real, sometimes the products used in those tutorials can be a bit pricey. I've been on a mission to find the best drugstore dupes and techniques to achieve this look with strong pigment, and I finally feel like I've mastered it! You don't need a fancy palette to get that intense color and sharp line. First, let's quickly differentiate. Fox eyes typically give a lifted, elongated look, often with a softer, diffused wing and an emphasis on the outer corner. Think 'sultry and subtle lift.' Siren eyes, on the other hand, are more intense, with a sharper, longer inner corner and a more dramatic, often black, winged liner that extends further out, creating a seductive, almond shape. Both are gorgeous, and the good news is, you can adapt your technique for either using the same affordable products! Here’s what I swear by from the drugstore to get that strong pigment: Eyeshadow Palette: Look for palettes with a good range of matte neutrals (tans, browns) and a rich, deep matte black or dark brown. Brands like NYX, Wet N Wild, and e.l.f. have some incredible options with surprisingly strong color payoff. I always swatch them in-store to check for pigment! Eyeliner: This is crucial! For a sharp siren eye, a liquid liner is your best friend. My go-to is often the NYX Epic Ink Liner or the Maybelline Hyper Easy Liquid Pen. If you prefer a softer, smokier fox eye, a gel liner pot (like e.l.f.'s Cream Eyeliner) or a highly pigmented black pencil liner smudged out works wonders. Mascara: Any mascara that gives you volume and length will work. I love Maybelline Sky High or L'Oréal Lash Paradise for that extra 'oomph' to complete the look. My Step-by-Step for a Pigmented Drugstore Fox/Siren Eye: Prep Your Lids: Always start with an eyeshadow primer (e.l.f. Putty Primer is fantastic and affordable!). This helps your shadows stick better and makes the pigment pop even more, plus it prevents creasing. Create the Lift (Fox Eye Base): Using a neutral matte brown from your drugstore palette, apply it slightly above your natural crease and extend it outwards towards your temple. Use a fluffy brush to blend, creating a lifted, elongated shape. Don't be afraid to build up the color for strong pigment – good drugstore shadows can handle it! Define with Deeper Shades: Take a slightly darker matte brown or a soft black. Apply this closer to your lash line and extend it out into a soft, diffused wing, keeping the angle lifted. Blend, blend, blend! This deepens the look and adds definition. The Liner (Siren Eye Sharpness): Now for the fun part! If you're going for a siren eye, grab your liquid liner. Start from the outer corner, drawing a sharp, thin line upwards towards the tail of your eyebrow, then connect it back to your lash line. The key is to keep it thin and sharp. For the inner corner, extend a tiny, sharp point inwards towards your nose. This is where the siren eye really comes alive! For a fox eye, you can skip the inner corner extension or just do a very subtle one, focusing more on a subtle wing. Intensify & Clean Up: For extra pigment, you can go over your liner with a dark eyeshadow using a thin, angled brush – this also helps set it and makes it last longer. If your lines aren't perfectly sharp, a tiny bit of concealer on a flat brush can clean up any edges beautifully. Mascara & Final Touches: Curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara, focusing on pushing the lashes outwards towards the temples to enhance the lifted effect. You can also add a touch of highlighter to your brow bone and inner corner for an extra pop. It takes a little practice, but trust me, you can totally rock these dramatic eye looks with just drugstore makeup. I love how expensive they look without actually being expensive! Give it a try and let me know your favorite pigmented drugstore finds!
