we ordered spicy for this and the kick 😮💨 the chicken was soft and tender, goes super well with the rice! loved the spice for this ⋆✴︎˚。⋆
brown butter pasta w angus ribeye steak ($27)
this was similar to a carbonara, and the brown butter flavour wasn’t prominent. nothing really stood out for this :( wished i opted for the smoked duck instead for my choice of protein as the steak didn’t quite hit .𖥔 ݁ ˖
truffle mushroom pasta w angus ribeye steak ($29) 🌟
this was my favourite!! the sauce tasted like mushroom soup, and the truffle taste wasn’t too strong so it didn’t overpower the entire dish. the steak for this and the pasta was q mid though, was a little tough and slightly overcooked, but the sauce def carried!!!! ִ ࣪𖤐
biscoff fudgy brownie ($8) 🌟
this was GOOOOD. served warm, each bite was soft, rich and decadent. sweetness was just right, and the peanut butter added a really nice texture to the brownie! 10/10 would get this again ⋆˙⟡
calamari frittes ($15)
not the best i’ve had, but still yummy! the batter wasn’t as crispy as i expected it to be, and the calamari wasn’t coated evenly as well ಄
overall will only come back if i’m in the area~ would reco the truffle mushroom pasta and the biscoff fudgy brownie ⋆.˚
... Read moreVisiting a halal friendly cafe like Chiko Pollo offers a refreshing way to enjoy diverse, flavorful dishes that meet specific dietary requirements. From my experience, the variety available speaks to modern tastes—balancing traditional elements like woodfire cooked chicken with contemporary twists such as truffle-infused pasta and decadent desserts.
When dining at Chiko Pollo, I found the woodfire chicken with rice particularly satisfying, especially with a spicy kick that complements the tenderness of the chicken. The bold spices not only elevate the dish but also showcase how halal cuisine can be both authentic and adventurous. However, if you prefer pasta, the truffle mushroom pasta is a solid choice. Its subtle truffle flavor works wonderfully without being overwhelming, providing a rich and creamy experience reminiscent of savory mushroom soup. Paired with angus ribeye steak, it’s a dish that many would find comforting, though it's fair to note the meat may vary in tenderness.
As for desserts, the biscoff fudgy brownie stands out as a highlight. Its warm, rich texture combined with just the right sweetness and added peanut butter bits make it a delightful ending to the meal. It’s an example of how halal cafes are stepping up with creative, indulgent options that don’t compromise on dietary standards.
While some dishes like the brown butter pasta did not quite meet expectations, opting for different protein choices such as smoked duck might offer a better balance of flavors. The calamari frittes were enjoyable but could benefit from a crispier, more evenly battered coating.
Overall, Chiko Pollo offers a balanced menu with some standout items. It's perfect for when you’re in the area and seeking a halal cafe experience that mixes comfort food with modern flavor profiles. The atmosphere is welcoming to foodies eager to explore halal-friendly options without compromising on taste and quality.
