I can’t wait for the new hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome criteria and all the new research and findings that will be rolling out this year! I don’t want our future generations to have to wait decades for a diagnosis like many of us have had to. I was not diagnosed with hEDS until I was 32 years old, even though, I started looking for answers about my health issues in my childhood. Love you all. ❤️‍🩹

... Read moreLiving with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) can be an intense journey, especially when diagnosis comes late in life. Many individuals face years of uncertainty and searching for answers while managing a wide spectrum of symptoms such as joint hypermobility, chronic pain, fatigue, and other connective tissue issues. The delay in diagnosis not only affects treatment plans but also impacts mental health due to the lack of validation and understanding from medical professionals and society. The excitement around the introduction of new hEDS criteria is rooted in hope. These updated guidelines aim to refine diagnosis methods to be more accurate and accessible, helping reduce the current average diagnostic delay many experience. Early diagnosis means earlier intervention strategies that can improve quality of life and prevent complications. For those living with hEDS, the possibility of future generations receiving quicker, clearer diagnoses means potentially less pain and confusion. From my perspective, connecting with the hEDS community and staying informed of research developments has been empowering. It’s important to share personal stories and experiences because they highlight the real challenges faced day-to-day. Advocacy and awareness play crucial roles in pushing medical research forward, making it vital for people to keep supporting and contributing to the conversation. Additionally, recent research delves deeper into the genetics and pathophysiology of hEDS, aiming to unravel what causes the hypermobility and related symptoms at the molecular level. This scientific progress could lead to targeted therapies that go beyond symptom management and actually address underlying mechanisms. While waiting for these advancements, managing hEDS involves a multidisciplinary approach including physical therapy, pain management, and sometimes psychological support. Lifestyle adaptations and patient education are also key in navigating this complex condition. In essence, the future looks hopeful with promising diagnostic improvements and ongoing studies. Sharing our journeys and staying engaged with emerging knowledge helps build a stronger support network and ensures that “fly on the wall” observers gain a better understanding of the real lives behind hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

DON'T WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW - save your wasted day!🦋
There have been SOO many days in the past that I’ve just considered “over” at 3pm. Maybe it’s because I was hungover and didn’t get out of bed until 12pm. Or because I just woke up and started doomscrolling for too long… I always just think I wasted the day so I’m going to continue to feel bad/guil
