My IV fluids help a lot too, but that wasn’t necessarily a procedure… getting my central lines have been, but I never had an ‘IV fluids procedure’. I’m so grateful for all of my treatments, procedures, therapies, meds, etc, because the truth is that every little bit helps, imo. I’ll take whatever I can get. But, I am very happy with how these particular procedures have helped me live my life more fully with my pain, fatigue, and symptoms. ❤️🩹
Living with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and related conditions means constantly managing a balance between pain, fatigue, and daily activities. From personal experience, I've found that a combination of specialized medical procedures along with ongoing treatments truly makes a difference. For example, surgical interventions such as Left Renal Vein Transposition combined with Left Ovarian Vein Ligation have dramatically alleviated symptoms related to Nutcracker Syndrome and Pelvic Congestion Syndrome, which are common complications that exacerbate discomfort and fatigue. The use of a Sacral Nerve Stimulator has been a game changer for pelvic pain, overactive bladder symptoms, and conditions like Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder (PGAD). It helps me manage symptoms that would otherwise be debilitating and intrusive on daily life. Additionally, interventions like Right Ovarian Vein and Bilateral Internal Iliac Vein Embolizations target pelvic congestion to further reduce chronic pelvic discomfort. Beyond these vascular and nerve procedures, integrating implantable devices such as a Cervical Intrathecal Pain Pump has been essential for addressing occipital neuralgia and head/neck pain. The delivery of targeted medication directly to the spinal cord helps control pain more effectively than systemic medication alone. Lastly, addressing dysautonomia symptoms through procedures like the Rhinair and septoplasty has helped me manage issues such as chronic runny nose, improving my overall quality of life. Throughout all these treatments, it’s important to remember that every person’s journey is unique. The combination of therapies, medications, and procedures that work best for me may differ for others. However, what remains clear is that embracing available medical interventions with a proactive mindset can empower those with hypermobile EDS and related conditions to live fuller, more comfortable lives despite the challenges.
