I've been on my own journey, starting at 165 lbs at 5'6", and through consistent effort, I've brought my weight down to a healthy 140 lbs. Shuffle dance was a huge part of that transformation, helping me shed those 25 pounds. Many people ask, 'is shuffling a good workout?' Absolutely! It's a fantastic form of cardio that gets your heart rate up, engages your core, and works your legs and glutes. Unlike some exercises that feel like a chore, shuffling is genuinely fun, which makes it much easier to stick with long-term. When you're having a blast, you don't even realize how hard you're working! Let's talk about 'shuffle dance calories burned per hour'. While it varies based on intensity and your body weight, I found I could easily burn anywhere from 300 to 600 calories in an hour-long session. To maximize calorie burn, I focus on higher intensity moves, incorporating jumps and continuous footwork. It's definitely a 'fast fat burning workout' if you push yourself! The beauty is, you can start slow and gradually increase your speed and complexity as your stamina improves. However, and this is a crucial point, especially for women like me in the post-menopausal stage: exercise alone is not enough. I learned this the hard way. While shuffle dance was incredible for my fitness and mood, to truly lose the weight and keep it off, I had to significantly change my diet. This meant being more mindful of portion sizes, focusing on nutrient-dense foods, and reducing processed sugars. It was a complete lifestyle overhaul, not just adding a new exercise. I also want to be transparent about other tools that helped me. In my personal journey, diet aids played a role. For instance, I found certain diet aids, including options like Ozempic, could be a great help if you need that extra support. I also personally used (and still use) Bronkaid at times, under guidance, to assist with my energy levels and metabolism during intense periods. These were complementary to my efforts and something to discuss with your healthcare provider if you're considering them.
