college thrift spots‼️😍

Thrifting isn't just for clothes! I'm showing how I furnished and decorated my dorm/apartment with unique, budget-friendly thrift finds. Small items like mirrors, baskets, and unique mugs add so much personality for next to nothing. This is the ultimate renter-friendly decor hack! I found so many different things shoes, decor, sweaters, work pants, etc!!!!#lemon8partner #lemon8college #thrifting #goodwill

... Read moreThrifting in college isn't just a hobby; it's a lifestyle that saves your wallet and helps you express your unique style on campus! While my original post touched on scoring amazing dorm decor, there's so much more to uncover when it comes to finding the best secondhand clothing brands and unique vintage pieces to truly stand out. Let me share some of my favorite strategies and marketplaces across the US for fellow college thrifters. First, let's talk about those budget-friendly marketplaces. Beyond the well-known Goodwill, which is fantastic for home goods and essentials, there are a few other places every student should explore. Goodwill Bins are a game-changer if you have the patience! I once found some incredible pieces at the bins, even with a strict 20-minute time limit and going mid-day when it's busiest. It’s like a treasure hunt where everything is priced by the pound! Salvation Army stores often have a great selection of clothing, sometimes even more organized than Goodwill. Don't overlook smaller, local independent thrift stores; these are often hidden gems run by charities, and you can find truly unique items that haven't been picked over yet. For more curated selections, explore local consignment shops. While sometimes a bit pricier, they often carry higher-end brands for a fraction of retail. When it comes to finding the best secondhand clothing brands for college students, it’s all about knowing what to look for. Brands like Levi's, Gap, J.Crew, and even designer labels can pop up. Always check the fabric content – natural fibers like cotton, linen, wool, and silk tend to last longer and feel better. I've scored vintage Levi's jeans, cozy cashmere sweaters, and classic blazers from brands I certainly couldn't afford new. The key is to check labels, inspect for quality, and imagine how an item could fit into your existing wardrobe. You'd be surprised how many great quality items end up at thrift stores simply because they didn't fit someone else or were no longer wanted. To ensure you find unique vintage clothing and accessories that help you stand out on campus, you need a keen eye and a bit of creativity. Look for items with interesting patterns, unique cuts, or vintage tags. Accessories like scarves, belts, and jewelry are fantastic for adding personality without committing to a full outfit. A vintage silk scarf can instantly elevate a simple tee, or a chunky belt can transform a plain dress. Don't be afraid to try on things outside your usual style – sometimes the most unexpected finds become your favorite statement pieces. Remember, the goal is to mix and match. Pair a thrifted vintage band tee with modern jeans, or a classic tweed blazer with a contemporary skirt. This blend of old and new is what truly makes a college student's style distinctive and authentically theirs. My top tip for successful thrifting? Go often, go with an open mind, and always inspect items thoroughly for stains or damage. And most importantly, have fun with it! Thrifting is an adventure, and with these tips, you'll be well on your way to becoming a campus style icon without draining your student loan.

5 things I dislike about thrifting as a thrifter
1. Prices are becoming outrageous for PRE-WORN clothing. I won’t blame it only on resellers but that definitely contributes to the problem. As a college student, thrifting is what I can afford and now some things I’m finding are out of my budget these days. 2. People who are snobby about brands
