Mt Whitney in less than a month!
My Apple Watch died on me 🥲 what is your favorite fitness tracker / watch?!
Last weekend's 14-mile hike covering Etiwanda Peak and Cucamonga Peak with more than 4,700 feet of elevation gain was an incredible challenge and excellent preparation for my upcoming Mt Whitney summit attempt. The demanding terrain really tested my stamina and mental endurance, making it clear how important proper gear and tracking are for such efforts. Speaking from experience, having a reliable fitness tracker or smartwatch is crucial for outdoor adventures like these. Unfortunately, my Apple Watch died during the hike, which was frustrating but also a learning moment. In my search for alternatives, I've found that watches like the Garmin Fenix series or Suunto models offer great battery life, GPS accuracy, and ruggedness ideal for mountain trekking. Choosing the right fitness tracker depends on your specific activity needs—whether it's elevation tracking, heart rate monitoring, or route mapping. If you're gearing up for long-distance hikes or mountain climbs, investing in a device with extended battery life and offline map capabilities can really make a difference. Remember to also focus on hydration, nutrition, and pacing during training hikes to build up your endurance safely. Combining solid preparation with reliable gear increases your chances of a successful and enjoyable Mt Whitney experience. Stay safe out there and keep pushing your limits!
