The truth about love (not like the movies)
Hello, I’ve missed you all! Hope you’re all having a lovely Christmas!! 🎄I honestly can’t believe we’re already at the end of 2025.
Since I didn’t post last week, I thought I’d come back with a double post from a series I just finished; two books that were different chapters of the same love story.
Hope you enjoy this one. Highly recommend for my YA rom-com lovers 💛
I read “Better Than the Movies” and “Nothing Like the Movies” by Lynn Painter back-to-back, and together they felt like two sides of the same love story.
- Better Than the Movies is about believing life should feel magical.
It’s about plans, rom-com fantasies, and trusting that if you follow the script long enough, love will fall perfectly into place.
It reminds you that sometimes life doesn’t go the way you plan and somehow, that’s where it becomes even more beautiful. When you let go a little, have fun with it, and trust the process, love finds you in ways you never expected.
- Then comes Nothing Like the Movies, the part no one really prepares you for.
What happens after the happily-ever-after?
When life gets messy, timing is off, and love isn’t as effortless anymore.
This book is about yearning. About believing. About choosing to fight for what you think is meant for you.
Wes holds onto hope. Liz has to decide whether she still believes in second chances and whether love is worth risking again.
Together, these books felt like a quiet reminder:
Love can be fun and dreamy.
But it can also be hard, uncertain, and deeply real.
And sometimes, if it’s truly meant for you, it finds its way back - even when it doesn’t look like the movie version at all.
Happy reading and stay tuned because I just finished my advent calendar book and cannot wait to talk about it soon ✨📚
