January thoughts
💭Hello there. It’s mid-January, and I’ve been sitting with a few thoughts since the new year began.
Everyone talks about the new year like it’s a reset button; new resolutions, new goals, new opportunities.
But the older I get, the more intimidating it feels.
We treat January like the start of a new life, when really, it’s just another day. The calendar changes, expectations rise, and suddenly we’re supposed to know where we’re headed.
I do understand why the new year feels like a refresh - a chance to realign and rethink what’s ahead. But sometimes it feels a little overdone, almost like we’re forcing clarity before it has time to arrive.
For companies, maybe the direction is clearer.
For individuals, I’m not so sure.
Every day already holds the chance to do something differently, yet we reserve change for one month of the year. Maybe that’s why new habits rarely last beyond a few weeks. Not because we lack discipline, but because real change doesn’t follow a timeline.
This year, especially, feels uncertain for me. There are changes ahead, milestones I can’t fully picture yet, and decisions that don’t come with clear answers.
I’m learning to sit with that - instead of rushing to make sense of everything. Taking it day by day, and trying to be a little better as I go. 🌀🌀
I hope you’re doing okay too, wherever this January finds you.
More reading thoughts and medical good-to-knows coming soon.
