Take Back You!

Your body remembers what your mind tried to forget.

🤯 Trauma takes and takes from you in many forms. Maybe it’s caused you to respond to people in certain ways that push them away. Maybe it looks like apologizing all the time. Maybe you are a people pleaser without no or limited boundaries. Physical health issues like panic attacks, heart palpitations or arrhythmias.

😰 Can releasing the negative energy you’ve kept inside for so long help relieve you? Crying is our bodies natural way of letting go of big amounts of energy, so let it happen. You’re not weak, you’re human.

😮‍💨 The Release journal can help you get to place of releasing that negative energy, link in bio. #mentalhealthawareness #releasejournal #journaling #therapy #healing

... Read moreIt's incredible how much our bodies hold onto, isn't it? For so long, I dismissed those nagging aches, the constant tension in my shoulders – that feeling like I was carrying the weight of the world, almost like a persistent strain in my upper back. I used to think it was just stress from work, but as I started my own healing journey, I realized how deeply my unprocessed trauma manifests in the body. It's not just emotional; it's truly physical. I remember learning about the prevalence of anxiety and trauma and how it impacts our brains, sometimes even leading to complex PTSD. It really resonated with me when I read that unprocessed trauma can manifest in the body as chronic pain, digestive issues, or even that constant feeling of being on edge. For me, that tension in my neck and shoulders was a clear signal. This isn't about getting a medical diagnosis, but about recognizing those physical cues our bodies give us when our minds are trying to forget something painful from one lifetime of trauma. My breakthrough came when I truly understood that healing isn't a straight line – it's a non-linear nature of healing. Some days you feel great, others you feel like you're back at square one. But embracing that wavy path is part of the process. I've also found immense relief in allowing myself to truly feel my emotions. Before, I was someone who always tried to be strong, to suppress any sadness or anger. But then I learned about the risks of suppressing emotions and how crying is actually a powerful tool. Did you know crying releases natural painkillers? It’s true! It's our body's way of recalibrating, providing a calming effect on the nervous system and reducing cortisol. It’s a huge part of our biological recovery from stress. I used to feel so weak if I cried, but now I see it as an act of immense strength. It’s a release, not a breakdown. Beyond crying, I've found other ways to honor my body's need to release. Gentle movement like stretching or yoga, even just a slow walk in nature, helps to loosen that physical tension that trauma can create. Journaling, as the original article mentions, has been a lifeline. It’s a safe space to unpack those heavy thoughts without judgment. I’ve found great solace in writing down how my body feels, not just my mind. Sometimes, simply acknowledging that my body remembers past hurts is the first step towards letting them go. It’s about being patient and compassionate with yourself as you navigate the path to taking back your peace after experiencing one lifetime of trauma.
