Hey everyone! I wanted to share something that's been transformative in my personal healing journey: the idea of "shadow work" as "peeling the onion layers." When I first heard it, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it's such a perfect metaphor for digging deep into ourselves. We all carry experiences, fears, and beliefs that might be holding us back, often without us even realizing it. These are our "shadows," and just like an onion, they have layers. For so long, I felt stuck, almost like there was an invisible barrier preventing me from truly stepping into my full potential. I'd try to make changes, but old patterns or fears would always resurface. That's when I realized I needed to address the root causes, not just the symptoms. This is where the concept of "peeling the onion layers" in shadow work for trauma healing really clicked for me. It's about slowly, gently, and with immense self-compassion, uncovering those deeper, often painful, layers of our past experiences and beliefs. Trauma, big or small, tends to create these protective layers around us. We develop coping mechanisms, limiting beliefs, and self-sabotaging behaviors as a way to shield ourselves from further pain. But over time, these very protections can become prisons. Peeling these "onion layers" means acknowledging these past hurts, understanding their impact, and then consciously deciding to release them. It’s not about reliving trauma in a destructive way, but rather observing it, learning from it, and integrating those lessons so they no longer control us. A powerful tool I use for this "daily shadow work" is journaling. It provides a safe space to explore these sensitive topics. One specific question that has been incredibly insightful for me, and something I often return to, is: "What limiting beliefs about myself do I need to let go in order to step into my full potential?" This isn't a quick fix, but a continuous process. Each time I revisit this question, I find a new layer, a deeper understanding of where these beliefs originated, and how they’ve impacted my life. For example, I once believed I wasn't capable of pursuing a creative career because of a casual remark someone made in my childhood. That was a layer. By exploring it through journaling, I understood it wasn't a universal truth, but a belief I had internalized. The act of writing it down, questioning its validity, and then consciously choosing to "let go" of it was incredibly liberating. It’s like shedding an old skin, allowing a more authentic and powerful version of yourself to emerge. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the idea of "shadow work" or "peeling layers" of trauma, start small. Begin with introspection. Ask yourself: What keeps me feeling small? What fears consistently block my progress? What old stories do I tell myself that no longer serve me? Be patient with yourself; this journey isn't a race. Each layer you gently peel away brings you closer to your true self, paving the way for profound inner healing and allowing you to finally embrace your full potential. Remember, it's okay to seek support if needed, but the power to heal lies within you, waiting to be uncovered, layer by layer.

Well they are beautiful! 🥰
