Battle Of The Best Truffle Fries In SG 🍟

(photos are in no particular order)

One side dish that I find it hard to pass at a restaurant/cafe has got to be truffle fries. I love fries! 🍟 To know if a restaurant does its food well, you can tell based on how well they do their truffle fries (may not be the case sometimes 😝). Compiling some of the ones I’ve had!

📍PS. Cafe

Starting off strong with the pioneer of truffle fries (disclaim that I haven’t had this in such a long while), I recall back then this sets such high benchmarks for what a good truffle fries would be, and of course it didn’t disappoint when I first had it. Gotta head back soon to try them again!

📍 Waa! Cow

Crispy, fresh, thin shoestring fries. So addicting. I hate that I have to hold myself back from ordering this because the portion is INSANE. Crazily generous I think this could feed like 5-6??

📍 Alice Boulangerie Co.

Generous portion too with each fry infused with strong truffle taste. Every fry was crissspy!

📍South Side Keppel

Had this after a while of not having truffle fries but besides the point, I LOVED THIS. I think this is my favourite one! There were truffle bits which further amplified the taste profile and additional textures!!

📍 Surrey Hills Grocer

Thick cut fries. Enjoyed the truffle mayo dip, it was unique and I haven’t tasted any truffle dip like that before! Albeit being thick, it still has a good crunch to them.

📍 Mamma Mia Trattoria E Caffè

The one with the BEST VALUE for money!! $8.90 for this portion which is really a lot btw, can feed 3! This never misses. Consistent, crispy as always. Love dipping this in my pasta sauce 🤭

Save this post for the next time you’re craving a good crispy truffle fry!

... Read moreIf you’re looking to elevate your truffle fries experience beyond just taste, consider pairing them with the right drinks or complements to maximize enjoyment. Many cafes offer unique dipping sauces that can enhance the truffle aroma, such as truffle-infused mayonnaise or parmesan cheese dips, adding layers of flavor to every bite. Texture is also key when hunting for the best truffle fries. Personally, I find that shoestring fries offer a delightful crispiness that contrasts nicely with the rich truffle oil, while thick-cut fries deliver a satisfying crunch and a fluffier interior. Depending on your preference, you might want to explore both styles. If you’re a budget-conscious foodie, spots like Mamma Mia Trattoria E Caffè offer incredible value, serving generous portions without compromising crispiness or flavor. It's perfect for sharing with friends or savoring solo when hunger strikes. For those who enjoy experimenting at home, using high-quality frozen fries and adding fresh truffle oil or truffle salt can recreate the café experience. Remember, the key is to drizzle truffle oil sparingly to avoid overpowering the fries. Finally, don’t overlook seasonal variations or special menu items that blend truffle fries with other ingredients such as parmesan or unique herbs. This can refresh the classic truffle fries experience and keep your palate excited. Next time you’re out exploring Singapore’s vibrant food scene, keep an eye out for these truffle fries gems and add them to your must-try list!

We went on a Saturday around 1pm — queued for about 15 mins. The indoor seating queue was longer, so we sat outside since we were hungry 😅 There was a small fan outside so wasn’t so hot. ✨ Kakuni Ochazuke had only a faint green tea taste compared to others I’ve tried before. ✨ Truffle Mayo Ch
