#1 advice: Take the stairs! No elevator 🙅‍♀️🏃‍♀️

What do you do for steps???

A big part of my steps journey has been doing cardio at the gym! My goal is to get 10-15k steps a day! (One day this week I did over 10 miles worth of walking)

Things that have helped:

• 20+ minutes of the stair master (the warm-up)

• 10 minutes on the cross ramp (in a 4-3 interval)

• AT LEAST 1 mile of walking on our indoor track

• taking the stairs everywhere instead of the elevator! At college my classes are on the 4th floor and a big part of reaching my goal has been taking the stairs every day to the classes and the stairs back down instead of the elevator!

Another thing I’ve been doing is walking etc with a backpack on to prepare for hiking when I will have my backpack on me 🤩

... Read moreHey everyone! So many of you asked about my 10-15K steps journey, and I'm excited to share even more tips and tricks that really helped me stay consistent. It's not just about hitting the gym; it’s about integrating movement into your everyday life, and a few key strategies can make all the difference. Mastering the Stair Climber & Cross Ramp for Big Step Gains My gym routine is a huge part of hitting those high step counts. I start with 20+ minutes on the stair master – it’s a fantastic warm-up and really gets the heart rate going. What I've learned is that it's not just about speed, but consistency and form. When you're on the stair climber, focus on driving through your heels and engaging your glutes. Avoid leaning too heavily on the handles; let your legs do the work. I also love watching my Apple Watch stair stepper workout screen; it keeps me motivated seeing the calories burn and my heart rate climb. For my 10 minutes on the cross ramp, I found that a 4-3 interval (4 minutes at a steady pace, 3 minutes slightly harder) works wonders. Pay attention to your feet on the cross ramp machine – ensure they're flat and stable to maximize the workout and prevent strain. These machines are incredible for building endurance and racking up steps without the impact of running. Everyday Hacks: Ditching the Elevator for Effortless Steps The biggest game-changer for me, outside of the gym, was truly embracing the idea of taking stairs everywhere instead of elevators. Seriously, this adds up! At college, my classes are on the 4th floor, and making the conscious decision to use the stairs both ways every day has been massive for my step count. But it’s not just limited to college. Think about your apartment building, office, or even shopping malls. If there’s an option for stairs, take it! It might feel like a small effort each time, but over a day, a week, a month, it contributes significantly to your 15k steps a day goal. It also gives you little bursts of cardio throughout your day, which is great for energy levels. Prepping for Adventure: Stair Climbing Workouts with a Backpack Another thing I've started doing, which is super practical, is walking with a backpack on my indoor track sessions. I’m preparing for some hiking trips, and this is an excellent way to simulate the added weight and build strength. You don't need to load it up with bricks right away! Start with a few books or water bottles and gradually increase the weight. This not only adds an extra challenge to your step workouts but also strengthens your core and back, making those real hikes feel much easier. It's amazing how quickly your body adapts when you add this kind of resistance. Staying Motivated for 10-15K Steps Daily Reaching 10-15K steps daily consistently requires a bit of planning and a lot of motivation. My top tips for staying on track: find an accountability partner, track your progress with an app or smartwatch, and don't be afraid to switch up your routine. If you're feeling sluggish, try listening to a new podcast or your favorite pump-up playlist. Remember, every step counts, and even on days when you can't hit your full goal, any movement is better than none. The benefits of consistent steps – from improved mood and energy to better physical health – are truly worth the effort!

I wish there were more indoor tracks that were just local. I had one as well at my college but no longer go there

You got this I usually just walk around the house to get my steps in, but now that the weather is starting to feel nice I think I'm going to start going outside for dinner walking and running.
