What I Write in a Week ✨

My DREAM is to become a full time author - that eventually my love for writing becomes my every day job. 🩵

But for the moment, writing is my very, very enjoyable hobby which means I also work full time. In addition to working full time I have to have time for life and sometimes writing every day is DIFFICULT.

Sometimes I get hard on myself when I lie down at night without opening up my computer, but for others, maybe this is your reality too. Life is busy. Working full time while trying to write a 80,000-85,000 romance novel can be HARD. Writing while trying to advertise for social media can be EXHAUSTING.

And as crazy as it is, I love it all 😋

So, take the wins. Looking back at my week and realizing I work 8-5, I have all these things going on and I still managed to write 5,524 words is a MAJOR WIN.

Life gets busy and that's okay. But don't let the busy-ness keep you from your dream. 💗

Looking at a week-by-week breakdown helps put progress into perspective. For instance, achieving 5,524 words written in just one week while working 8 to 5 is a testament to effective time management and prioritizing your passion. Breaking down daily activities as seen from the OCR image content — including laundry, grocery shopping, marketing, dinner with friends, and even attending book signings — highlights the real-life multitasking involved. These routine yet important tasks often compete with writing time, making it vital to carve out dedicated slots for creativity, even if only short bursts during the day. Many writers find success in setting realistic weekly word count goals aligned with their schedules, rather than feeling pressured to write daily. This approach helps maintain motivation and reduces burnout. Embracing the wins, no matter how small, builds momentum. It’s also important to acknowledge the challenges of balancing a social media presence for book promotion alongside writing commitments — something the author candidly shares. Ultimately, perseverance and self-compassion are key. Life’s busyness won’t disappear, but adapting writing habits to fit into everyday realities ensures that passion projects remain alive. Remembering that every word written, weekend or weekday, adds to the final goal can turn perceived limitations into powerful motivation for indie authors pursuing their dream careers.
