ADHD-Proof Wind Down Routine

After being diagnosed earlier this year I have learned so much and come to understand why so many simple things like going to bed or setting routines have been so hard for me my whole life. I wanted to share my experience and things I’ve learned to help cope with my ADHD, and I hope sharing these can help others, too- I’ve had ADHD burnout before and it isn’t fun. I want to help others if I can!

... Read moreLiving with ADHD can make winding down at night a challenge. Many individuals struggle with sleep due to hyperactivity and racing thoughts. A structured wind down routine can greatly help in transitioning from the hustle of the day to a peaceful night's rest. Start with setting a clear 'quit' time each evening, marking the end of productivity. Designate a place for your medications to ensure they're ready for the morning, which can reduce anxiety about taking them. Planning your next day can alleviate feelings of guilt for things left undone. Additionally, engaging in activities that don't involve screens, such as reading or crocheting, can promote relaxation. Lastly, consider watching familiar movies or listening to soothing music to create a comforting atmosphere. By implementing these steps into your evening, you can establish a healthier relationship with your routines, ultimately making winding down less daunting and more enjoyable.
