Do you fit in?
If your faith looks exactly like the world, then who are you leading people to? Jesus didn’t call us to blend in with darkness. He called us to be light in the middle of it. Stand firm, speak truth, and point people back to Christ.
“ You are the light of the world…”

Living out a faith that truly shines can be challenging in today's world, where so often the pressure is to conform and fit in. From my own experience, it’s easy to get caught up in the desire for acceptance—whether from peers, social media, or society at large—and inadvertently dim the light God has placed within us. But embracing the call to be "the light of the world," as Jesus said in Matthew 5:14, means intentionally living a different kind of life that reflects His love, truth, and holiness. This doesn’t mean perfection or acting fake; it’s about being authentic and letting your mindset, relationships, and responses to life’s pressures point people toward something greater. I’ve found that when I stood firm on my faith, even when it meant standing out or facing criticism, it created opportunities to speak truth and love in ways that words alone couldn’t. The world tends to normalize behaviors and values that destroy, but as believers, we are called to disrupt that status quo by demonstrating God’s presence and light in everyday actions. This might look like showing kindness when others are unkind, choosing integrity over convenience, or speaking hope in the midst of despair. In practical terms, maintaining your spiritual light requires daily time in prayer and Scripture, surrounding yourself with a faith community for support, and intentionally choosing behaviors that honor God, even when they’re countercultural. Remember, the goal isn’t to isolate ourselves but to influence culture positively by embodying the transformative power of Christ. If you ever feel the tension between fitting in and standing apart, take heart that Jesus never called us to blend in—He called us to be a city on a hill that cannot be hidden. So, dare to be different, let your light shine, and watch how God uses your witness to bring hope and change to the world around you.
