Why does a good God let bad things happen?

When we face difficult experiences and tragedies, it's natural to question how a benevolent God can allow such pain and loss. From personal experience and spiritual reflection, I've found that wrestling with these questions is part of a deeper journey of faith rather than a sign of doubt. One of the key insights I’ve gained is that God, as a faithful Father, grieves alongside us when we lose loved ones, whether people or pets. This shows His deep compassion rather than detachment. Like 1 Corinthians 13:12 explains, our understanding is partial and imperfect now. Accepting this mystery can be difficult, but it’s a path toward embracing God’s wisdom and love in its fullness. It's also critical to recognize that suffering is not God's desire but the result of a broken world influenced by evil forces. This perspective helps protect our faith from despair and reminds us to focus on God's goodness and promises. Sharing experiences with others in the Christian community has provided immense support. Learning how others navigate these challenges with trust inspires hope. Encouraging open, honest conversations about pain and faith can deepen our connection with God and strengthen resilience. Ultimately, while bad things do happen, this does not negate God's goodness or power. Instead, it calls us to lean more deeply into faith, trusting that God’s love remains constant and that, eventually, all things work for good for those who love Him.
