Did you know what "Revenue Agency" is? When I heard it properly for the first time in my 60s, I thought, "This is my story."
I've heard of the word "revenue agency," but I didn't understand it well.
I finally heard it in the video.
Long story short.
Currently, taxes are collected separately by the National Tax Agency and social insurance premiums are collected separately by the Japan Pension Service and others. If these two are unified, the Revenue Agency will be able to reform taxes and social insurance premiums in an integrated manner.
Sounds reasonable. But there are opposing forces. It seems that there is a view that the National Tax Agency's "investigative power" is part of the current power structure.
Since I can't judge this part, I heard that there is such a view.
In the same video, there was a talk about a policy to reduce the consumption tax on foodstuffs to zero for a certain period of time. I think it's a pros and cons story. Problems with the cash register system, problems with financial resources. I don't know what will happen yet.
But while listening to this, I thought.
Talks about politics that I have avoided, saying "it seems difficult" or "it will not change anyway," are actually directly connected to my life.
The story of consumption tax is the story of daily shopping, the story of social insurance premiums is the story of money deducted every month, and the story of pensions is the story of life in old age.
After turning 60, the feeling of "this is my own story" has increased.
You don't have to understand everything. But it's not a loss to know "there is such a discussion" little by little.
To know, to think, to put into words.

歳入庁の設立は、税金と社会保険料という普段あまり意識しないけれど確実に私たちの生活に関わる重要なお金の流れを見直す試みとして注目されています。私自身も、この歳になってやっとこうした制度改革の議論が自分ごととして捉えられるようになりました。 たとえば、毎月給料から天引きされる社会保険料や買い物時に課される消費税は単なる数字ではなく、自分の生活や老後の安心に直結するもの。歳入庁ができれば、税と社会保険料の徴収窓口が一本化され、効率的な行政サービスや公平な課税の実現に期待が持てます。しかし、国税庁の調査権の問題など、反対意見も根強く理解しておくことが大切です。 また、食料品の消費税を一定期間ゼロにする議論も身近なテーマ。レジシステムの調整や財政への影響を考えれば、単純な減税ではなく複雑な背景があることがわかります。こうした政治や社会のニュースをただ遠くに感じるのではなく、少しずつ知り、意見を持つことは自分の生活を守ることにもつながるという実感があります。 60代になって初めて「自分の話」と感じたこのテーマ。日々のニュースから目をそらさず、時には難しく感じても情報を取り入れ続けることが、これからの暮らしや家族のためにも必要だと実感しています。皆さんもぜひ、歳入庁や税・社会保障の話に少しだけ関心を持ってみてはいかがでしょうか。
