This week I'm on 1000mg a day and then next week we go up to 1500mg a day.
I'm hoping the sugar craving stays away, the nausea eases and I'm not running to the toilet all the time. Of course I’m also working on and tracking calorie intake, sugar intake, all the things and moving my body. A food diary is helpful too.
Overall week 1 - 7/10
Starting Metformin can be a challenging experience, but it’s encouraging to see progress by the end of the first week. From my own experience, the initial days may bring side effects such as nausea or the frequent need to use the restroom, which can feel discouraging at first. However, these often diminish as the body adjusts to the medication. Tracking food intake, especially calories and sugar, is crucial when managing PCOS and aiming for weight loss. Maintaining a detailed food diary helped me stay mindful of what I was eating and identify any triggers for cravings. Combining this with regular physical activity, even light daily movement, supported my journey by improving insulin sensitivity and energy levels. It’s important to increase the dosage gradually, as your body adapts better and adverse effects are minimized. Consulting a healthcare provider to tailor your dosage and discussing any side effects is key to success. Remember, healing journeys are personal and non-linear, so celebrating small wins like a manageable week 1 rating helps keep motivation high. Overall, integrating Metformin into a balanced lifestyle with disciplined diet and exercise promotes not only lower BMI but improved metabolic health. Sharing your progress and setbacks in a supportive community, such as forums dedicated to PCOS and Metformin, can also offer encouragement and practical tips from others undergoing similar transformations.
