High school book club visit

Today, I visited Alta High School's book club! Thank you to the librarian, Ms. Siler, for inviting me. We had a great time talking about my publishing journey, the Above the Black trilogy, the movie, and my bald head.

I signed so many books and even got to see some of my former students!

... Read moreVisiting a high school book club can be a profound experience for both authors and students. These gatherings foster a love for reading and provide students with insights into the literary world. During my visit to Alta High School, I emphasized the importance of storytelling and how it shapes our understanding of different perspectives. The Above the Black trilogy, known for its captivating narrative, sparked lively discussions. Students were eager to know how authors craft their characters and plotlines. School visits like this also reinforce the role of librarians, such as Ms. Siler, in curating enriching experiences for students. Their efforts encourage engagement with literature. Book clubs create a community where readers can express their views, analyze texts, and develop critical thinking skills. Moreover, meeting with former students added a personal touch to the visit, showcasing the lasting impact of education and mentorship. As authors, engaging with young readers not only inspires them but allows us to remain grounded and connected to the evolving landscape of literature. Events like these highlight the significance of maintaining an ongoing dialogue about books, enhancing the literary culture among the youth. By sharing our journeys, we can motivate them to explore their own writing and creativity.
