Author visit with former students!
I got to visit another high school book club! This school is filled with my former students, and it was incredible running into students who are seniors now, and I had them my first year of teaching. I couldn't believe how much they've grown up. They were in my sixth grade class!
I'm living the life of my dreams and am so proud to meet so many readers of SKY'S END!
One student told me SKY'S END is the best book she's ever read and that she's obsessed with it. 😀
Visiting schools and interacting with students can be an incredibly rewarding experience for educators and authors alike. It's not just about sharing knowledge but also about witnessing the transformation of young minds as they grow. In this journey, reconnecting with students who were once in your class brings a sense of pride and nostalgia. For many authors, school visits serve to inspire and motivate the next generation of readers and writers. Engaging students through discussions about books can ignite their passion for reading and storytelling. During my visit, I was thrilled to hear one student express her admiration for my book, SKY'S END, declaring it the best she had ever read. Such feedback reinforces the impact authors can have on students' lives and encourages them to delve deeper into literature. Moreover, these interactions foster a love for reading that can extend beyond the classroom, creating a community of avid readers. Events like these can boost students' confidence, refine their literary skills, and encourage them to explore new genres. As authors, it’s our responsibility to connect with future generations and provide them with the tools and inspiration needed to succeed in their literary pursuits. This visit reminded me of the importance of mentorship and the lasting influence an author can have on young readers.
