Planning your summer in the Twin Cities? I recently explored many of these events, and each offers something unique that truly brings the local communities together. The Somali Week Festival is a fantastic celebration filled with music, food, and culture, running from 10 AM to 8 PM on June 27. It's a great way to immerse yourself in the rich Somali heritage. One highlight that I personally enjoyed was the Twin Cities Pride Parade on June 28. Held downtown, it draws a colorful crowd with local personalities and businesses showing support. The parade route starts at 3rd and Hennepin and winds through lively streets — it’s a joyous occasion full of memorable moments. July is packed with exciting events like the Taste of Minnesota festival and the Red, White & Boom Fireworks on July 3 and 4. The food scene is phenomenal during Taste of Minnesota, offering everything from local specialties to craft beverages. Art lovers won’t want to miss the Loring Park Art Festival on July 25–26, an urban oasis highlighting incredible creativity. The Tribeville Music Festival and Liberian Independence Weekend add diversity to the lineup, showcasing local music and cultural pride. August continues the momentum with the Uptown Art Fair, Let’s Gidi Fest, and notably the Al-Maa’uun Day of Service on August 15 held at 1729 Lyndale Ave N in Minneapolis. It’s a meaningful community service event that invites everyone to volunteer and make a positive difference. The season culminates with the Minnesota State Fair from August 27 to September 7, a must-visit for its food, rides, and entertainment, drawing visitors from all around. In addition to these headline events, the Twin Cities are alive with farmers markets, outdoor concerts, food truck festivals, and neighborhood celebrations throughout the summer. I highly recommend saving this list and planning your outings accordingly. Whether you're a local or visiting, these events offer a wonderful way to experience the culture, art, and vibrant community spirit of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Make sure to check event websites for any updates or registration details. What are you most excited to attend this summer?
