Review of top book of the year!!!

During 2025 I read multiple books and I enjoyed all of them, but my top book of the year was definitely The Locked Door !! I listened to this book through Audible,, when it comes to books, I honestly like to have the physical book in hand!! Listening to this book be read to me was definitely different for me. I really enjoyed the narrator, and the storyline itself was really good. She always gives these great plot twist and leave you guessing during the whole book so to finally find out at the end it was definitely a six star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️book for me !!

... Read moreOkay, so you know how I usually have to have a physical book in my hands? There's just something about turning those pages and feeling the paper! But 2025 was the year I really dipped my toes into audiobooks, and honestly, "The Locked Door" by Freida McFadden on Audible completely changed my perspective. I wanted to share a bit more about why this particular listen became my absolute top book of the year, especially for anyone curious about diving into audio thrillers. First off, the narrator, Leslie Howard, was just phenomenal. She wasn't just reading; she was performing! Her voice brought each character to life, making it so easy to get lost in the story. You know when you're reading a physical book and you sometimes have to reread a sentence or lose track of who's talking? With Leslie, I felt so immersed that every detail just clicked. The subtle shifts in her tone and inflections really built the suspense, making the emotional impact of the story so much stronger. The pacing was perfect for a psychological thriller, building tension masterfully over its 7 hours and 25 minutes runtime. It really highlighted how a great narrator can elevate an already gripping story. Hearing the fear, the doubt, and the revelation in a character's voice adds a whole new layer that you sometimes miss when reading silently. And speaking of gripping, Freida McFadden's knack for plot twists is legendary, but in audio, they hit even harder! Just when I thought I had it all figured out, BOOM – another twist. It felt like I was right there with the main character, experiencing every shock and surprise. The way the story unfolds kept me guessing right up until the very last minute, and that's something I absolutely crave in a thriller. The distinctive red door on the book cover almost serves as a metaphor for the secrets hidden within, and the audiobook format made unlocking those secrets an even more intense journey. It was one of those books that had me audibly gasping in my car! For anyone who's usually a physical book lover like me, or if you're just starting your audiobook journey, I genuinely recommend giving "The Locked Door" a listen. It’s perfect for commutes, doing chores, working out, or even just relaxing with your eyes closed. Audible makes it super convenient – you can easily play, pause, and pick up right where you left off across devices. If you're looking for an alternative to traditional print books or even a PDF version, audiobooks offer a unique, hands-free way to enjoy a story. Plus, it's a fantastic way to "read" more books if your schedule is packed, letting you multitask. This experience totally opened my eyes to the power of audio storytelling, and now I'm on the hunt for more psychological thrillers with amazing narrators. This book wasn't just a read; it was an *experience*. What are your favorite audiobook discoveries? I'd love to know!
