Instant Banana Soft Serve + Berry Option
The most insanely delicious, ultra creamy banana soft serve, made with just five simple ingredients in five minutes!
The secret ingredient is instant pudding mix and I have included a lower calorie, refreshing berry option as well! If you’re craving something sweet, or a healthier version of ice cream, give this one a try! {Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free Friendly}
🍨Base Ingredients
2 medium/large frozen bananas, sliced and frozen OR 1 cup of frozen berries for a lower calorie version.
1/2 cup of Cool Whip. I used reduced fat and this is what the nutritional information is calculated with.
2 tablespoons instant cheesecake pudding mix. Sub with your favorite flavor! Use sugar-free, if preferred.
A pinch of sea salt. Sweet and salty? Yes, please!
3-4 tbsp. of milk. Add more as needed but for the thickest, most ice cream-like consistency, try to stick to just 3 tablespoons. I used Fairlife milk, a plant-based milk may result in a thinner consistency.
1-2 scoops of vanilla or unflavored protein powder, optional. I tested with and without protein powder and I did prefer it without!
My personal favorite combination is banana slices, whipped cream, chopped walnuts and a drizzle of caramel!
🍦Toppings / Add-Ins
Cinnamon
Banana slices
Caramel topping
Whipped cream
Dark chocolate chips (I love on the berry version)
Brown sugar (delicious on the banana version)
Nutella
Chopped walnuts
Cocoa powder
Vanilla Extract
👩🍳Step-By-Step Instructions
A powerful blender or food processor definitely works best for this recipe. If you have one, you might be able to get away with less milk and a more “ice cream like” consistency.
Add all base ingredients into a high speed blender or food processor.
Blend until smooth and well-combined, stopping and scraping down the sides to incorporate all the ingredients. If using a food processor, try switching between pulsing and blending. If the blender gets stuck, add a splash of milk. The consistency is definitely best if you can stick to just 1/4 cup, though!
Divide into two servings. Top with you favorite toppings and enjoy! Best if consumed immediately.

Who knew making delicious, creamy soft serve at home could be this simple, quick, and downright amazing? I’ve been absolutely hooked on this instant banana soft serve recipe, and trust me, it’s a game-changer for anyone craving a healthier, homemade treat. It’s not just about the convenience; it’s about having complete control over what goes into your bowl, leading to a truly satisfying indulgence. Making your own soft serve means you can skip all the artificial stuff and enjoy pure, wholesome flavors. That’s why I love experimenting with different fruits and toppings. For banana lovers, getting that ultra-creamy banana soft serve texture is key, and it all starts with perfectly frozen banana slices. But don't stop there! Elevating your dessert into a beautiful, personalized homemade bowl is part of the fun. I always make sure to use a nice, chilled bowl to keep it extra cold, making every spoonful a delight. Now, let's talk about perfecting your soft serve bowl. Beyond just scooping, think about layering! I love starting with a generous portion of the creamy banana base, then adding a swirl of caramel drizzle – it just melts into the soft serve perfectly. Then comes the crunch: a sprinkle of chopped walnuts or even some dark chocolate chunks (especially good with the berry soft serve!). For the final flourish, a dollop of whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon can truly transform your bowl into a gourmet experience. I've even added sprinkles on top for a fun, festive vibe, just like you see in some of those delicious images! Don't be afraid to get creative with your toppings! Beyond the classics, I recommend trying a sprinkle of brown sugar for extra sweetness on the banana version, or a handful of fresh berries for the refreshing berry option. A drizzle of Nutella or a spoonful of almond butter can add richness, while granola or crushed cookies can provide an exciting textural contrast. The OCR showed beautiful presentations with whipped cream, cinnamon, and caramel, and these are truly fantastic starting points. For those who enjoy a bit of tang, a squeeze of fresh lime juice can brighten up the berry soft serve beautifully. Achieving that perfectly creamy instant soft serve texture in your home blender might take a tiny bit of patience. My best tip? Make sure your bananas (or berries) are really well frozen. When blending, start on a low setting and slowly increase, using a tamper if your blender has one, or stopping frequently to scrape down the sides. It might look crumbly at first, but keep going, adding milk just a splash at a time until it magically transforms into that smooth, ice cream-like consistency. The instant pudding mix is honestly the secret weapon here – it adds incredible creaminess and flavor! This recipe is incredibly versatile. Whether you're in the mood for the sweet, comforting taste of creamy banana soft serve or a tart, refreshing berry soft serve, you can customize it to your heart's content. It’s perfect for a quick snack, a healthy dessert after dinner, or even a fun, interactive treat for guests. Enjoy creating your own perfect homemade soft serve bowl!
