Returning after periods of absence might feel hopeful, but returning alone isn’t growth or deepening commitment; rather, it’s easy repetition without meaningful progress. The nervous system naturally craves familiarity, so even inconsistent or confusing interactions can feel emotionally important. Understanding this helped me detach from the mistaken belief that any attention equals intention. When dating, focusing on clarity, direction, and mutual effort can save emotional energy and pave the way for genuine connection.
