What I do on a rest day as a stroke survivor

Typically during the week I do as much fitness stuff I am capable of doing but seeing as yesterday I fell and bruised my tailbone I decided I’m not doing anything today. But what I normally do on Sunday no matter what I’ve done on Saturday, I will:

1 normally sleep in.

1.2 watch church on YouTube. My church always makes their services available on YouTube.

2 bible study usually with youversion because it’s a simple restful thing I can do on a rest day.

3 drink water like I’m a camel. If I don’t hydrate properly even on a rest day I will just drink sodas all day and just put junk in my body. And Holy Spirit recently told me “when you eat junk food and just put junk in your body, where I live, do you really think that honors me? It basically just tells your body that it’s only worthy of trash which also makes me live in trash.”

And I’m telling you that really opened my eyes to how I treat my body and how I feel about it. What do you normally do on a rest day?

... Read moreRest days are crucial for recovery, especially for stroke survivors. Incorporating spiritual practices can enhance emotional health and resilience. Watching uplifting church services online provides spiritual nourishment, while engaging in Bible studies allows for reflection and learning. Hydration is vital; drinking plenty of water ensures the body remains well-fueled and healthy. On days of rest, prioritize activities that nurture your well-being, both physically and spiritually. Consider journaling your thoughts or meditating to foster mindfulness. Finding balance between rest and activities aids recovery and promotes a positive mindset. Explore community resources or online forums for shared experiences among survivors. What unique activities do you embrace on your rest days? Reflecting collectively can create a support network, fostering motivation and encouraging a fuller recovery. Embrace this time as an opportunity for growth and self-discovery amid your stroke recovery journey.
