Letchworth State Park

Oh my goodness, if you're planning a trip to Letchworth State Park, you absolutely CANNOT miss Inspiration Point! Seriously, it lives up to its name. From this vantage point, you get the most breathtaking panoramic views of the gorge and the stunning waterfalls, especially the Upper and Middle Falls. I spent ages just soaking it all in, taking countless photos. It's truly picture-perfect, and the sheer scale of it all is just incredible. I’d recommend going in the morning for the best light, or late afternoon to catch a beautiful sunset over the canyon. It can get a bit busy, especially on weekends, but the views are worth every moment. After you've had your fill of Inspiration Point, make sure to explore further. Many people just see one spot, but the park has so much more to offer. From Inspiration Point, you're perfectly positioned to head towards Middle Falls. The walk itself is lovely, with well-maintained paths. What really caught my eye were the 'Stair cases in the park' – they're incredibly unique and add to the adventure, making you feel like you're truly exploring. Reaching Middle Falls is a spectacle; it’s powerful and expansive. Don't forget to look for the area where you can have a 'Picnic in the park between the upper/middle falls.' We packed sandwiches and snacks, and it was the perfect spot to refuel while listening to the roar of the water. It’s such a serene and invigorating experience. And for the adventurous, definitely seek out the Lower Falls! It requires a bit more of a hike, but the journey is just as rewarding as the destination. The path winds through lush greenery, and when you finally arrive, the Lower Falls offers a different perspective, often feeling more intimate and secluded. It’s a great way to escape any crowds you might encounter at the more popular spots. Beyond just the falls, Letchworth is a hiker's paradise. There are trails for all levels, from gentle strolls to more challenging treks. I found the entire park to be incredibly clean and well-maintained – a true testament to New York State Parks. Whether you're into serious hiking or just want a leisurely 'Day Trip Must see sights' experience, this park has it all. It’s definitely a highlight of any 'Summer Diaries' adventure in New York. Pack good walking shoes, plenty of water, and your camera. You won't regret spending a full day here; there's so much beauty to discover!
