This clear, blue spring has 7,000 years of fascinating history behind it. Mayaca Indians who inhabited the area once called this spring “Healing Waters”. 17 million gallons of water pour out of the spring each day and it makes a visible “boil” on the surface of the water. Activities at this spring include recreational swimming, snorkeling, river boat tour, fishing, nature trails and more! Save this and visit when you’re in Central Florida.

... Read moreIf you're planning a trip to De Leon Springs State Park, let me share some extra tips to make your visit even better! This 'secret spring' isn't quite so secret anymore, especially on weekends, holidays, and during the hotter summer months. It can get really packed, so my top tip is to arrive early, ideally right when they open, to snag a good spot and beat the crowds. The park is open all year round, but if you're looking for that refreshing 68-degree water for cooling off, those warm Florida days are truly unbeatable. The main draw, of course, is the incredible spring. The huge swimming area is absolutely crystal clear, making it a fantastic spot for snorkeling. You'll see plenty of fish, and the constant 68-degree temperature is incredibly refreshing, even on the hottest days. There's even a cool dock where I saw some people trying out their best tricks and cannonballs! For those who love to paddle, De Leon Springs offers kayaking, and I found the rental prices pretty reasonable: a tandem kayak is $27, or you can rent for $20 for 30 minutes or $35 for an hour. It's a fantastic way to explore the spring run at your own pace. Make sure to check DeLeonSpringsAdventures.com or call 855.980.2665 for reservations, especially during peak times, as they can book up quickly! Beyond the water activities, the park boasts some amazing nature trails. The 4.2-mile Wild Persimmon Trail is a great option for a longer hike, but there's also a shorter trail where you can see the magnificent Old Methuselah, a cypress tree over 500 years old! Everywhere you look, you'll be surrounded by some of the wildest oak trees I've ever encountered. And yes, they do have a river boat tour, which is a relaxing way to learn more about the spring's history and wildlife. You absolutely cannot visit De Leon Springs State Park without experiencing the Old Sugar Mill Pancake House. It's truly a highlight! Imagine making your own all-you-can-eat pancakes right at your table for just $8.99 per person. It’s such a fun and delicious way to fuel up after swimming or hiking. I'd recommend going for breakfast or brunch to make the most of it. Entry to the park is also very affordable at just $6 per vehicle, which is a steal for a full day of activities like this. Overall, De Leon Springs State Park is a fantastic destination for a family day out or an adventurous escape. It truly is one of Florida's gems, offering a unique blend of history, nature, and recreation. Definitely add this to your Travel Adventures list!

I also recommend rock springs at Kelly park! It’s like a natural lazy river! One thing though is that it’s first come first serve so if your not in line early like before 8:30 you have a very low chance of getting in
